As to the identification of your samples :
Bulbophyllum 'klabatense' = Bulbophyllum papulosum Garay

Diagnosis B. klabantense vs B. papulosum :
B. klabatense has a tuft of hairs on the adaxial side of the lip, lacking in B. papulosum
. Other differences are minor: B. klabatense has larger flowers with narrower sepals and petals, and a column with a more distinctly antrorse wing along the lower margins of the stelidia. Probably the two are distinct, though.

... your Bulbo "klabatense" certainly matches the plant that I think of as B. klabatense ... it is as close a match as you could get.

MY ORIGINAL QUERY :

I purchased this Bulbophyllum under the name "Bulb. orthostates".
Origin : South East Asian, likely Indonesia (the merchant did not know exactly) as it came with a batch of plants including also Bulb. echinolabium and Bulb. sulawesi.
Vegetatively very similar to these two species. Floral spike also similar but flowers are significantly smaller than in the two above mentioned species.
Appears quite similar (perhaps identical) to Bulb. sp. Palu brown (catalog nr BS041) (Palu is a city in Sulawesi Island) from Simanis Orchids http://www.simanis2000.malang.net/ .

"orthostates" seems to be an invalid name.
"oreonastes" is the closest match that I could find in the International Plant Name Index http://www.ipni.org/searches/query_ipni.shtml .

Could "orthostates" actually be a misspelling for :
Bulbophyllum oreonastes Reichb. f. Otia Bot. Hamb. 118. (IK) ?
So far I’ve been unable to find further information about Bulbophyllum oreonastes...
You have any clue for the determination of my plant ?.
Please contact me . Your feedback is anticipatively gratefully acknowledged.

Jean-Marie, your mystery plant is a Bulbophyllum in Section Intervallatae, a section with a long inflorescence that extends slowly, producing single flowers in succession over a period of several months. From the photo looks as if your plant could be B. klabatense Schltr. (in Fedde, Repert. x. 93 ,1911), a species that is endemic to Sulawesi. It is hard to tell accurately without having a good close-up look at the lip and column apex, which are out of focus in your photo.
Try comparing your plant to the attached drawing .
In 1998 a batch of plants was exported from Palu to the USA labelled "B. echinolabium". This batch contained mostly B. sulawesii and B. klabatense. This is probably where your plant originated. The 3 species occur in the Donggala Peninsula, but grow in separate altitude bands.
The name on your plant is probably a corruption of B. orthoglossum Krzl . (in Gard. Chron. 1896, I. 326), a species in Section Intervallatae of uncertain origin , generally assumed to be from Sulawesi but possibly from Philippines, Maluku or New Guinea instead.

Jean-Marie Vanderwinden of Brussels enquired about the identity of an unnamed species of Bulbophyllum from Sulawesi. The plant in the picture shows a strong resemblance to B. orthoglossum Wendl. & Krzl. found in the Philippines, Borneo and Sulawesi. An illustration of this form can be seen on the cover of the June 1997 issue of Orchids and a description is available in Valmayor's book Orchidiana Philippiniana Vol. I. Of course, identification can only be approximate without closer examination of the plant and flowers.
What we can say is that the plant is definitely not B. oreonastes from Africa (described and illustrated by J.J. Vermeulen in Orchid Monographs II) and that you are right, there is no Bulbophyllum named B. orthostates.
I hope that this is of some help and I will be happy to provide further information if the references mentioned are not available to you.

- dans Orchidiana Philippiniana : stems and pseudobulbs clustered, 5 cm long, 2 cm diameter, unifoliate. Leaves oblong, obtuse, acute, up to 20 cm long, 5 cm wide. Flower stalk nearly equal to leaves, few-flowered, sheathed; flowers produced in succession, comparatively showy. Q : What are the distinctive features of B. orthoglossum Wendl. & Krzl. vs. B. klabatense Schltr. ?

R : I don't know. I have not seen the description of B. orthoglossum as the Gardener's Chronicle for 1896 has been removed from the SBG library !!!! Kraenzlin's descriptions are notoriously vague.Iit probably says "has 1 green leaf and brown flowers". Schlechter's description and illustration of B. klabatense match my plant but not perfectly.
When Jaap Vermeulen saw my plant he though it was B. orthoglossum because he had a "B. klabatense" with red and yellow flowers. When I showed him Schlechter's description, he changed his mind, and now says that the whole group is in need of revision. I'm calling my plant B. klabatense until Jaap says differently !!
Incidentally.... mine flowered non-stop (although not continuously) for 11 months last year.
Peter
